Cookie Policy

1.1 This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on the athletical.ly website, including Organization subdomains and Organization custom domains served by the same platform.

1.2 A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. "Similar storage" means local storage and session storage, which work the same way for our purposes: they hold a value in your browser — until you clear it, or until you close the tab in the case of session storage.

1.3 It supplements the Privacy Policy, which describes how personal information is handled generally. Where the two overlap, the Privacy Policy governs.

1.4 The athletical.ly mobile application does not use cookies. It stores authentication tokens in encrypted operating-system storage, as described in the Privacy Policy.

2.1 Cookies fall into three categories. Only Necessary cookies are set before you answer the cookie banner; nothing in the other two categories loads until you opt in.

2.3 Marketing cookies and pixels come from the advertising and referral partners we work with, such as Google Ads. They tell us which campaigns and partners bring people to athletical.ly and what those visits lead to, and they are set only once you turn the category on.

3.3 GIF search and the GIFs from the GIPHY picker in messaging are fetched by our servers rather than by your browser, and GIPHY sets no cookie here.

3.4 A map loads once it scrolls into view; a video is a still picture until you press Play — and the still picture itself is fetched by our servers, not your browser. Either way the embed is requested by your browser, so the provider receives your IP address and the page you were on, even though no cookie is set by us. YouTube embeds use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. The venue editor in the Organization dashboard also loads Google Maps and Google Places as soon as an administrator opens it, because picking a location on a map is the tool itself.

4.1 On your first visit, a banner offers Customize, Reject All, and Accept All. Rejecting everything takes one click, exactly like accepting.

4.2 Analytics and Marketing cookies are off until you turn them on. Refusing them does not limit access to any part of the Platform.

4.3 If you arrived through a partner's referral link, the code in that link stays in the page address and travels with any sign-up, organization or demo request you send during the same visit, so we can credit the referral. Refusing Marketing means the code is never stored in your browser — it is gone once you leave the site.

4.5 Your browser can also block or delete cookies for this site independently of this banner. Those controls live in the privacy or site-settings section of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. Blocking Necessary cookies will sign you out and keep you from signing back in.

4.6 Because the choice is stored in a cookie, clearing your browser storage also clears the choice, and the banner appears again on your next visit. A choice made on one custom domain does not carry over to another domain.

5.1 A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser or an extension locks both optional categories off — Analytics as well as Marketing. Two independent gates enforce it. In the browser, when the signal is readable from the page, the Analytics and Marketing toggles in Cookie settings are both shown disabled and off, and both are forced off when a page loads and again when you save preferences — so a choice made before you turned the signal on cannot revive an analytics or a marketing cookie, and accepting everything under the signal records the same refusal as rejecting everything. On our servers, a request carrying the Sec-GPC header never gets an affiliate-attribution cookie written for it, whatever is stored in your browser. (A referral code you arrived with can still reach us as part of a form you choose to send; it is never stored on your device.)

5.2 The standard asks browsers to expose the signal to the page as well as to send the header, and it is the page-visible copy that drives the lock described above. Some browsers and extensions send only the header. A page cannot see a signal it was not given, so there both toggles appear and behave normally, and granting a category writes its cookies from your browser. What the header still does is keep our servers from writing the affiliate-attribution cookie for the request that carried it.

6.1 A recorded choice is kept for up to 400 days, the longest lifetime browsers give a cookie, after which the banner asks again. That period is athletical.ly's own policy choice, not a quotation of any statutory maximum.

6.2 Each stored choice carries the version of this policy that was in force when you made it. When the categories or their meaning change, the version is raised, earlier choices stop applying, and every visitor is asked again with all optional categories off.

6.3 Current cookie policy version: 2026-08-18.

7.1 athletical.ly is used by youth sports Organizations, and some visitors are minors.

7.2 Marketing cookies stay off while an account holder under 18 is signed in. For an account holder under 14, Analytics cookies stay off too and the cookie banner is not shown. These limits follow the account, not the browser: they do not change a choice already saved on the browser, and a parent or guardian who signs in to their own account makes their own choice through Cookie settings.

7.3 No cookie described in this policy is used to build an advertising profile of any visitor, of any age.

8.1 This policy may be updated as the Platform changes. The revised policy will state its updated date, and the version above will be raised whenever the change affects what you consented to.
