Word From The Mouth: Bitter Barracudas!

Hello and welcome back. I'm glad to see that division 2 is more serious about playing than the other division since you guys at least showed up. Last week we only had two time slots and possibly moving forward we will be playing on three fields so we don't get bothered by it getting dark early and this way we can all get home to our families earlier. I'm not sure where I should start. I'm trying to multitask by writing this and doing reports for my boss so one of these is going to be a little messed up. Yes I can multitask (Ed's note: he can do two things badly!) just ask Matt about it. I can Ref and be a scorekeeper all at the same time. Isn't that right, no stats got screwed up while I'm doing them.

Game Recap: Chuck Norris Squad vs Team Mustard (53-28)

I thought that this was going to be a boring game after seeing both theses team play before. I felt that Chuck Norris was going to struggle moving the ball against a decent defense and I figured the same on the other side. Chuck Norris had a few subs, but not anyone that would blow the other team away. I will say that Team Mustard will need to solve the problem of who is going to rush. Ted was able to run all day long, but only took off 5 times for 102 yards and 1 score. Team Mustard had the same problem tackling last week also; guys you need to converge and enclose the ball carrier, never let him outside of you, force him in to where all your support is coming from. I'm not going to lie there were only three players that played well for Team Mustard and it was only on offense. You had Brian throwing and Phil and Scott catching, but other than that you guys need to find some help. For Chuck Norris, Ted looked like he figured it out using his legs to buy time and find the open guy, it also helped that guys were able to get open all day long. Gabe is a big addition to the roster from La Revolucion, but I'm not sure if he will become a full time player (Ed's note: He's on the roster!). Ted was only able to complete 52% of his passes, but threw 7 TDs with more than half his completions going for scores, that is ridiculous. His receivers played well and were able to get behind the defense with ease and they also all managed to score once. Charles did it all on defense getting 2 sacks and 1 pick. He might have been filling in at rusher for Mathieu who is a little banged up, but it worked for them. Going forward Team Mustard need to improve on defense and they should be in every game. For Chuck Norris you guys will be fine, Ted just needs to keep improving each week and remember to use his legs that's what will help you guys win more consistently. Game Preview: Bitter Boys vs Barracudas (GOTW)

So this is a really good challenge for both teams to see where they stand. They both have players that would be solid in division 1. No wait, the Bitter Boys have guys that could hold their own in division 1. Half the Barracudas ARE in division 1, which isn't cool. I have heard from a reliable source that Ron has some new gloves so everyone better watch out. (Ed's note: he does and they should)

QB - On one side you have JS who throws a great ball quickly and very accurately, but lacks mobility when you are able to get a quick rush on him. He has played enough to know just start an extra step back or make routes short to get the ball out of his hands faster. For the Barracudas you have old man Raph who used to play QB in division 1. In the past he was a very solid QB, but time has now caught up with him. He no longer can run the way he use to and his decision making has become horrible (Ed's note: Damn, Kevin, stop! He's already dead!). He throws way too many picks on throws he used to make all day. I will give my advantage to Bitter Boys in this one.

WR - Bitter Boys have a solid four guys who can catch the ball, but after Carl they lack a second true playmaker. Don't get me wrong, teams still need to come out and stop the other three guys which sounds easy but it isn't (Ed's note: How does that sound easy?). On the Barracudas you have two top division 1 guys in Josh and Max, oh and did I forget one of the better centers in the league in Lesniak. People think that those three are the only ones who can get things done. People don't realize that Jen is a very good player so don't underestimate her. I'm giving the advantage to Barracudas because of Josh and Max but if either one of them wasn't on this team I'd be giving it to Bitter Boys based on depth.

Defense - Both teams defenses stink. They give up too many points and don't get any pressure on the QB and both only have six picks. They both need to figure out who is going to rush and how to get the job done then maybe the team can turn around their struggling defense. We all know that without a good rush QBs are going to pick you apart so figure it out quickly. In this one I will give the advantage to Bitter Boys cause they have more depth.

Predictions

As of last weeks horrible predictions going 1 for 4 which is embarrassing. I sit at 8 out of 13 or 61.5 % on the season. I better start to pick it up soon or I might be below 50% and if that happens I'm going to start picking while we do the Podcast by flipping a coin. So this week I hope to do better.

Stud & Duds

Here we are where I get to pick my stud and dud of the week. This is based all on stats and nothing else, but it does help if your team wins.

This weeks stud has to go to Ted from Chuck Norris since he threw for 174 yards 7 TDs which is that great, but he also rushed for 102 yards on 5 carries plus 1 TD. He didn't do much on defense. Just 2 tackles, but his offensive numbers were more than enough to win this weeks stud.

Dud for this week goes to Julien from 7th Rounders. In his first game back this season he continued where he left off last season in the playoffs, throwing picks that is. The man went out and threw 5 on Saturday. That will definitely get you the dud of the week honours.
