Word From The Mouth: Div II Dom

Word From The Mouth: Div II Dom

Here we are back for another fun filled week of me and my opinions. Last week we had a few good games and a few that weren't so good, but its football and you never know who is going to show up and play. Last week we had someone from the Aces come and set up a canteen where you can purchase water, gatorade, chips, Chocolate bars and who knows what else, but it's for a good cause it is to help cover the cost for the kids to play football, maybe one day they'll be playing with some of us or against.

Recap: Bitter Boys vs Nice TDs

rn

rn

This game wasn't even close. The Nice TDs jumped out to a 20 point lead before Bitter Boys were able to do anything. I will say that the Nice TDs team that was out there on Saturday was not their regular team they were missing their new QB who was unable to make it so Kris filled in. These guys know Kris after playing with him the last few seasons, so they know what he expects out of them. They are still learning how to play with their new QB who is also learning the game and it will take time for them to gel, but overall they should be fine. On the other side of the field the Bitter Boys didn't look like they did last season at all. Normally theses guys show up with at least ten players and this week they only had eight. For the next few weeks or even possible the season they have a guy out. Two of their players collided on a good pass break up and he broke two of his ribs. Hope you heal up quickly and everything is ok. I know that this is flag and there is no contact, but things can happen and we want everyone to be safe. I know that Bitter Boys are going to play better than they did this week and should still be considered a contender for the title.

Recap: Chuck Norris vs Raccoons

rn

rn

Going into this game I was expecting it to be long, boring, and with a lot of turnovers, but was I ever surprised by the way the game turned out. Yes, Chuck Norris had a few subs which really helped them out, but what I was most impressed about in this game was that Sebastien looked like he has figured out what to do on offense. Ted is still trying to figure out how to play QB. He throws a good accurate ball that his guys need to make the catches on. He is also a pretty good runner so he is able to buy some extra while scrambling around looking for someone to get open. He did throw three picks, but they weren't all his fault, plus he was playing the Raccoons who have a very good defense and have been playing together for a while. I want to see what Ted and Chuck Norris Squad can do in a few weeks once they have gelled and Ted has gotten a little bit more experience. For the Raccoons Sebastien had probably his best game ever that I saw. He threw for seven TDs and only one pick, he was able to spread the ball around and get everyone involved in the game. If Sebastien can keep putting up numbers like this who knows where the Raccoons will end up at seasons end. I know that in the past he has had a good game then the next he comes out stinking the place up so lets hope for their sake that he is here to stay.

Recap: Team Mustard vs Iron Wolves

rn

rn

I knew going in that this wasn't going to be a close game. The only thing that kept it close was the fact that Jon runs the clock down on almost every play. It also helps knowing that you can score anytime you want. Right off the bat it was a one yard pass to Dom who ran circles around the entire defense of Team Mustard for the TD. I will say that Team Mustard will be fine once they figure out what works for them, they might not win a bunch of games but they will be in the game and have a chance to win. Most of, if not all, the guys on Team Mustard are new to the game and are learning what they need to do. My suggestion is what some of the division one games and ask some of the guys for pointers. I know you guys have John, but sometimes the defensive of play calling is a bit sketchy. I think with Dom joining the Iron Wolves it will open up a lot more routes for everyone since most of the defensive focus will be on him. I'm sure that once that happens Jon will be lighting teams up if he chooses to go at a quicker pace. Having played against and watching Jon for all these years I'm not sure if he will speed it up because everything with him is calculated and you know that you only get so many possessions a game. I want to see what Iron Wolves are going to look like once their whole team is there. Good luck going forward.

Preview: 7th Rounders vs Raccoons (GOTW)

rn

rn

This one is a very intriguing matchup. After the way the Raccoons played last week and the way 7th Rounders have been playing it's anyone's game.

rn

rn

QB - So this one is a little tough for me to choose since last season Julien was the QB but he hasn't played this season yet, so Charles has been playing there. Sebastien played great last week, I just wonder if he can play like that again this week. In the past he was like a roller coaster, a good game then a bad game, so not sure who to go with, but I have to make a choice. So I will give the advantage to 7th Rounders on the premise that Charles is throwing, but if he isn't then I have to go with Raccoons.

rn

rn

WR - Raccoons have a good number one target who is able to make plays but they need help from their number two and three receivers to make more plays. 7th Rounders have a solid one two punch in Terry and Angelo, but are still in need of a third guy to round out the bunch. Since one team has two solid targets I have to go ahead and give the advantage to 7th Rounders.

rn

rn

Defense - This one is the easiest of the three categories. You have Terry rushing and a solid back end that has produced seven picks which they returned two for scores and also batted away nine balls. For the Raccoons you have who I think is one of the top rushers in the division in Alexandre who leads the league right now in sacks. They have only managed five picks along with five batted balls and took one back to the house. I will give my advantage to the Raccoons in this department because of the rusher I think he will have a bigger impact than Terry does this week.

Predictions

rn

rn

Here we are the fun part that everyone looks forward to trying to prove me wrong or better yet trying to shut me up. Which we all know is never going to happen. As of right now I am at 77.7% at picking the games maybe if I was this good at picking NFL games I'd finally win one of the prediction pools I'm in.

Studs & Duds

rn

rn

I just want everyone to know that if you play in division one you will never get my stud of the week but you can get the dud. You are playing in this division for fun and you are expected to perform week in and week out.

rn

This weeks stud goes to Sebastien from the Raccoons. He played his best game in the league so far and is more than deserving of this. The man went out and threw seven TDs for just under 300 yards, but he also ended up making three tackles and getting a pick. If that isn't stud worthy then I don't know what is.

rn

rn

This weeks dud award goes to everyone on the Bitter Boys offense except Mario. Guys, this was a game that I felt you guys could win easily. You guys show up an hour before the game and you still started off flat for almost half the game. I thought you guys were better than that. Hope you guys can get you crap together and play like you did last season because you play like that again and you might find yourself here again.

rn

rn

Now that is it for this week I hope you all enjoyed this weeks article. Remember we are all here to have fun; no one is going pro anytime soon from playing in the MFL, so go out have fun and be safe. Good luck to everyone next week and please check the schedule to see what time you are playing at if you are playing as we only have two time slots this week.
