Word from the Mouth: No Joy in Mudville Tonight edition
By Kevin Kousaie

As you all know by now, Montreal has moved into the Red and more restrictions have come down. It is Monday as of this writing and we are all waiting to see what the government will decide to do about sports or at least team sports (ed's note: we've seen...). From what I have heard it doesn't look good for us. If we all follow the government's guideline and everything gets better then we might be able to get back to playing on Halloween. My bet would be that the season is over. I would have liked to finish the season off, but you can't fight with the government, well you can, but you're going to lose.

We were able to make it through 11 weeks in the spring and 4 weeks this fall season without any teams having an outbreak, the NFL and NCAA can't say the same. Does that mean Jon is a better commissioner then those guys running the other leagues (ed's note: yes, yes it does)? I'll leave that to you to make that decision. Should we make it in back for Halloween, Jon will be making a few changes to how we will be playing, my understanding is it will be a double elimination tournament with all teams making it in. Fingers crossed this happens. (ed's note: if we actually restarted by Halloween, we would actually be able to get teams up to somewhere between 7 and 9 season games in, so we would likely just finish a shortened season).

Week 4 Recap - Division 2
rn
rn
Dolphins vs OG Panthers (24-13)
rn
You kind of have to feel bad for OG this week. They show up as a team and they have to play a team with a few spares and one of those spares was Kris who was throwing for Dolphins. I always hate playing subs because you never know what you will end up with. Half way through the second half it was still a close game, but if it wasn't for the defense of OG returning a pick and a convert back for points it wouldn't have been close at all. The one thing that popped out to me from the stat sheet was Charles running 5 times for -10 yards and a TD. I guess Greg subbing for Dolphins really paid off with his 3 sacks, that's more sacks then they have had all season. Get the scabs out and bring in the real players or is that the only way you can win?

OG Panthers vs Honor Game (24-21)
rn
Charles played way better in this game then he did in his other game. A few things happened in this game. There was an ejection for objectionable conduct, Terry got a tooth knocked out and Honor Game were back to the way they were last season arguing over every mistake. The score shows that it was close. but with 2 minutes left OG were up 2 scores and just played soft and didn't give up the big play. Honor Game scored as time expired, but it didn't matter as the game was out of reach.

rn
Centurions vs Joey's Haters (39-24)
rn
This was a big statement game for Centurions showing they should be playing with the top dogs. On another note after the game Saturday night, REDACTED. So you can see, if it wasn't for that horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college. The Centurions are one of the best teams in the division when they have their entire roster and if we had been able to finish it off they would have been in the top 3 for sure.
rn
rn
President's Choice vs D#Nasty (24-45)
rn
Out of all the teams that will suffer with a break it will be PC, they have a new QB who is just learning the game and the way it is played on the smaller field. D#Nasty aren't a great team, but they have been playing that way this season. Would they have gone all the way to the championship this season? It was possible, but now we will never know. D#Nasty's defense stepped up and made a bunch of plays this week. PC have players that know the game and should be able to play solid defense, but it looks as if they are missing a guy to take charge and tell everyone what to do. Once Scott figures out the game, PC will be fine and start to win games, it's hard on the defense since they are on the field so much.

I had lots of great performances to choose from, but I could only pick 2 so not everyone was able to make it into my picks this week. I am beginning to wonder if the players on D#Nasty have a drinking problem, every week one of them balls out and ends up on my list. Maybe it just gives them motivation to play better, but whatever it is they need to keep it up. Better luck to everyone else once we get back.

Final Thoughts
rn
rn
Like most people in the league, I hope that this wasn't the last week of a season I was hoping to finish it off. We are so close with only a few weeks left. The only good thing to come from us taking a few weeks off is for the old guys like myself we have time to rest up and recover. It would really suck not to finish. This whole year has been f*qed by Covid. First we had to postpone the winter season, then the spring season started late and that made fall season start late. At least we were able to get out and play this season even if only for a little.
rn
We will all need to do our part if we are going to get back playing this year. Please stay in and wear your mask and don't have get togethers. Everyone needs to be smart, don't just think about yourself, think about everyone else.
rn
If this is my last article of the year, have a great rest of the year and I hope to see everyone back when the MFL starts up again (ed's note: me too).
