Word From The Mouth: Now With 100% More Aladdin Quotes
By Kevin Kousaie

Midseason has come and gone and we have a fight going on for the number 1 seed. Will Bitter Boys get the top spot or will it be the QBless Nice TDs? My money would be on Bitter Boys, but you never know, maybe someone else wants that spot and will elevate their game to grab it. But the truth is who cares where you finish during the season once you've clinched a playoff spot? Right now Nice TDs and Bitter boys already have a spot in the 8 playoff teams. I thought at this point more teams would have locked in already but that isn't the case.

Game Recap: 7th Rounders vs Iron Wolves (30-25)
rn
rn
This was a very exciting game that came down to the last snap. There were a few plays that really stood out to me. First was a pick from Jon where he jumped up in the air, batted the ball out of the air, and once he landed back on the ground he knocked it up in the air once or twice before catching the ball while everyone stood and watched in shock, then he tried a spin move (Ed's note: "spin move"), but was flagged and couldn't get into the end zone. I think everyone was in shock and awe that he was able to make that play. The one play I didn't agree with was on 4th down with 1:51 left in the game and down 25-22 going for it from your own 5 yard line with all 3 timeouts remaining, I would have punted and played defense to get the ball back. 7th Rounders didn't and it worked out for them on a 45 yard TD to Simon. Then they went for 2 and got it to go up 30-25 with just under 2 minutes left. There was still time for Iron Wolves to make a comeback unless Jon chokes like in the playoff game. Iron Wolves start driving down the field and then there was a pass interference penalty that took the ball to about the 15 yard line with plenty of time left. Some don't think it was a call but I was reffing alone and all the other games were done and every other ref saw the same thing I did. I thought it was going to be over for the 7th Rounders after a call like that. But on first down Jon was sacked by Julien (Ed's note: pretty sure it was Terry…) for a 4 yard loss, this brings us to second down in which Jon throws the ball and Jafar makes a great diving pick to seal the win for 7th Rounders.

Game Recap: Bitter Boys vs Krakens (27-14)
rn
rn
This game was a little sloppy to start off with. You had guys running into each other, but it was when guys were making a play on the balls. Players need to realize that if you make a play on the ball and don't go over the top of another player or through them more often than not there will be no call. I love how last season Bitter Boys would yell and scream over everything and this year they still do but not as much and when they scream at you and they are wrong they apologize to you. Bitter Boys got off to a fast start going up 14-0 a little past the mid-point of the first half. I thought they were going to keep rolling all game long, but the Krakens started to play and figure out what they could and couldn't do. The Krakens had a really good sub in Ken who was on the Krakens a few seasons ago and can easily hang with the division 1 players. By half time the Krakens made it 14-6 and were getting the ball back to start the second half. In the second half of the game not much happened and it was slow and very boring. Yes, Bitter Boys scored twice and Krakens once, but the game was never in doubt for the Bitter Boys who walked away with the win. I wish I could go into more details about this game, but it was a grind it out type game, so yes I saw it, but can't remember exactly what went on or exciting plays that happened.

Game of the Week: Barracudas vs Raccoons
rn
rn
I want to know if we should keep calling the Barracudas by that name or should we change the team name to the Anchovies since no one is afraid of them and they stink. This is a team with so much talent on paper but cant put it together week in and week out. Raccoons keep playing and fighting through each game. I think even a Raccoon will agree that these guys aren't real Barracudas.

QB - You have two guys that are similar in performance up and down. When they play well they can go out and win every game but when they play bad you just want it to end already. Raph is playing pretty poorly this season completing under 50% of his passes while throwing 11 picks. Raph, now we see why you stopped playing QB in division 1. You have played long enough that this should be easy to you. Stay focused and relaxed and you should be fine. Sebastien isn't much better completing 51% of his passes, and has also thrown a ton of picks as well, 15 to be exact. Sebastien, just like Raph, needs to slow down focus and see what the defense is giving him. Now that I have looked over the numbers and everything I have to go with Raph and the Barracudas getting the advantage, but it was almost a coin flip. I have seen Raph play really well at times and if that Raph shows up its hard to stop him.

WR - Barracudas have Max, Josh, Lesniak, but the person who makes the most difference for them is Jen. Everyone knows that the first 3 can all play, but teams forget about Jen and you shouldn't. She can and has made plays long enough in this league that you can't leave her open. Raccoons have two good receivers in Vincent and Mathieu plus two solid guys in Maxime and Philippe. The thing is with the Raccoons they need to make more plays when they have the ball in their hands. When they play weaker teams they look great but when they play a good team they look like crap. So which team will show up? Your guess is as good as mine. I have to give my advantage to the Barracudas just because of the stars on the team.

rn
Defense - So the Raccoons have one of the best defenses in the division. They are led by Alexandre who rushes and has 12 sacks on the season and Sebastien who has 8 of the teams 19 picks on the season. For the Barracudas you have Max leading the team with 9 picks but no one else really stands out on defense with any stats. I was going this way all the way and giving the advantage to the Raccoons. They are a better defense and know what to do and how to do it.

Predictions
rn
rn
Last week was a decent week for me going 4 and 2 on the week. Next week I'll give you an update as to where I stand with my 75% goal. Division 2 is more fun to pick because there are more teams and the teams are closer in talent level.

Studs & Duds
rn
rn
This weeks Stud goes to the man that saved the victory for them with a pick. That would be none other than Jafar. In the words of Iago: "Jafar, Jafar, if he can't do it no one can." It's from Aladdin for all you youngsters out there. This guy plays his butt off on Saturday ending with 8 catches, 82 yards, and 2 scores, but he made the biggest impact playing defense where he managed 4 tackles, but also 2 picks and the second was to seal the game off.

This weeks Dud goes to Kris for subbing again this week and just not manning up and joining the team permanently. Yes, you helped them go 2-0 over the weekend but every week I ask you, "so are you joining them for good" and its always the same thing, "no I am not, I am only subbing because they need a QB". Just man up already and join the team. Stop pussy footing around and join. They need you and you need them. I have them ranked number 2 but that's with you, so jump on board or get off the ship.

I'm glad that you guys and girls read my articles and I'm not just writing them for myself. This is still fairly new for me, but I think I have a good format down, but I'm always willing to tweak it a little bit to make it more interesting for you guys, the players, and all my fans out there. Please remember that it is getting colder outside so you need to start dressing more appropriately. Also this is a friendly league so go out have fun and be safe.
