Word from the Mouth: Week 2 - Winning Without Scoring Edition!

Word from the Mouth: Week 2 - Winning Without Scoring Edition!

Hello, I hope everyone enjoyed week 1 and are getting ready for week 2. I think that this Division will end up being a tight race all the way to the end. I see that some teams have gotten better and that should make for a lot of good matchups.

rn

rn

I want to remind everyone to pick up after yourselves. Take what you bring with you when you come as spending 15 minutes to go around and pick up after you guys isn't cool. We get the field from the ACES and they shouldn't have to clean up our mess. I feel we should start fining teams that played on that field not just the last team, but every team that played on that field that day. See how fast everyone will be at getting people to pick up after themselves.

Game Recaps

rn

Iron Wolves vs Space Apes

rn

Going into this one I thought it was going to be closer, but then I saw who was playing for Iron Wolves and knew it wasn't going to be close. How do you have Dom, Josh, Lesniak, and Jon throwing on a division 2 roster? Oh and I forgot they were missing their rusher in Catherine and a solid player in Ian. I feel that isn't cool. I will say that Charles did play really well for game 1 and should only get better as the season goes on. Iron Wolves jumped out to a huge 20-0 lead before Space Apes scored with only a few seconds left in the half. Leaving just enough time for 2 plays, have to figure they will just take a knee right. Not the case a quick pass for a few yards before what was a disastrous play that should never have happened. A Hail Mary that was caught by Lesniak a few yards short of the end zone with defenders standing between him and the goal line and not 1 person flagged him. That put the Iron Wolves up 26-6 at half and what felt like the last nail in the coffin. Space Apes started the second half by marching down and scoring, but the Iron Wolves were too much and couldn't be stopped. Final score was 39-13 Iron Wolves, but it was still a good game for Space Apes. They played probably the top team in the league week 1. A few more plays and it could go the other way next time.

rn

Old School vs Les Centurions (15-14)

rn

Old School won week 1, but had no help from their offense except for a 1 point convert. They won with 2 pick 6's and a safety. Les Centurions were able to score twice and as time goes on they will get better and more familiar with each other. 9 interceptions were thrown in this game. Not sure if it was good defense or bad QB play. We will have to wait and see.

rn

I will skip recapping the 3 free agent teams this week since I didn't see them play personally and they were all playing teams with a lot of experience and it wasn't really good match ups for them week 1.

rn

rn

Sofa King Good vs Raccoons (15-34)

rn

The Raccoons won this one despite missing their QB from last year, though Phillipe did a nice job filling in. But the strength of the Raccoons is their defense: 5 picks, 2 sacks, and 1 safety is a good start to the season. For the Sofa Kings it was their first game and they did a decently. These guys have a few players that will help them win a few games and if they get better QB play then who knows what could happen.

GOTW (Game of the Week)

rn

Old School vs Raccoons

rn

rn

QB- So this 1 comes down to which Dahic will show up and throw. If it's the one from last week or the one from last season. Last season Dahic walks away with this one, but last week's Dahic it makes it hard to pick a guy that threw 4 picks and only managed 1 point on a convert. For Raccoons who will be throwing? Will it be Phillipe or Sebastien? Phillipe played solid last week and should get another chance to prove he can do it. If Sebastien is throwing and is on his game then they can beat anyone in the division. The thing with Sebastien is that he plays good or bad with no in between. I'd have to go and give the advantage toward Old School since I think that Dahic's performance last week was just an off game.

rn

rn

WR- For the Raccoons last week Mathieu was the favourite target, but they did end up with a lot of short fields and didn't get many plays to showcase the rest of the guys. I feel that these guys are a solid group as a whole. They just need to be more consistent week in and week out. They have guys who can make plays, but don't always. Old School have been around forever and are a fun group of guys. They don't really have anyone that jumps up and says I'm the guy on this team, but someone always makes a play whenever Dahic is running around. Goldrick and Charles are the 2 guys I think of most on their offense and neither will make huge plays, but they make those little plays all game long. I feel that Old School should get the advantage here, but after the way their offense was last week I'm giving it to the Raccoons.

rn

rn

Defense- Old School have 1 of the best safeties in the division with Dahic. Last week he had 3 picks and took one back for 6. The thing is that he always lines up deep and is easy to take out of the game by not throwing deep. Up close they will have Goldrick who is a tackling machine. Rusher is Matthieu who is a decent rusher and he did manage to get 1 sack last week which was for a safety. Alexandre had to go and one up Matthieu by getting 2 sacks and 1 safety. I still think that Alexandre is the best rusher in the entire division by far. He gets after you fast and on every play. Raccoons were also able to pull in 5 picks but did it by 4 different players. I feel that the Raccoons have a top tier defense that could give trouble to some of the division 1 teams so I have to give them the advantage.

rn

rn

This game is going to come down to how well Alexandre can pressure Dahic and force him into some bad throws. But remember Dahic is one heck of a runner also. This is the matchup to watch in this game. I think that last week was a fluke game for Old Schools offense and this week they will get it together. I'm still not sold on the QB situation for the Raccoons so I think Old School will win but it should be an interesting game to watch.

rn

Predictions

rn

So last week I was able to go 6 for 6 in predicting games. I'm guessing that everyone I picked was happy that I picked them to win. Will I be able to that again this week or are some teams going to make me look bad and ruin my chances at going perfect all season. Now let's get into what you all have been waiting for to see if I picked you to win. Bold are winners:

Old School vs Raccoons

rn

Spritz vs D#Nasty

rn

Nice TDs vs Les Centurions

rn

Free Agents #2 vs Iron Wolves

rn

Free Agents #3 vs Space Apes

rn

Free Agents #1 vs Sofa King Good

Power Rankings

rn

Last week I had put my rankings 1-5 and I'm going to cut it back down to 3 teams as this way it is harder to get in and hopefully we see more of a change rather than the same teams every week.

rn

#1) Iron Wolves

rn

#2) D#Nasty

rn

#3) Nice TDs

rn

The top 3 stayed the same after week 1, but there could be some changes coming. There are a few matchups that could have some effect on these teams. We will have to wait and see until next week.

Final Thoughts

rn

I'm glad that every team showed up last week and no one needed to forfeit. Also this season we have 3 Free Agent teams that are still looking for some players so if you know anyone tell them and have them come out and see what it's all about. Remember that we are all out here to have fun and no one wants to see anyone else get hurt. So play safe have fun and see you all Saturday. Thanks for reading and if you want to talk to me about anything I'll be there all day so feel free to come up and ask away.
